HoneyBook's ChatGPT integration: worth it for a small business?
Verdict published 2026-09-10 · Category: client management (freelancers, service businesses)
Verdict: Skip. If you already use HoneyBook, keep using the app. If you don't, this is not a reason to start.
What happened
HoneyBook, the client-management tool for freelancers and small service businesses, launched inside ChatGPT as part of OpenAI's "Small Business Collection." You can now reach HoneyBook features by typing prompts in ChatGPT instead of opening HoneyBook.
What it actually means
This is convenience theatre. HoneyBook already has an app and a web interface that work. Putting a ChatGPT layer on top does not remove a step; it adds a place to check. Switching context to ChatGPT to schedule a client or send an invoice is slower than doing it in the tool you already have open. OpenAI gets to say it helps small businesses, HoneyBook gets a press release, and you get nothing new.
Price
HoneyBook starts around 6/month on annual billing (check current pricing). The ChatGPT integration itself adds no cost, but it also adds no value on its own.
Who it's for
Nobody yet. Maybe, later, a HoneyBook power user who lives in ChatGPT all day. That is a small group.
Do this instead
Time budget: 20 minutes this week. Look at how you manage clients right now, even if it's Gmail plus a spreadsheet. Is it actually costing you time? If yes, trial HoneyBook or Dubsado for two weeks, in their own apps. Kill rule: if you have not saved 30 minutes by Friday, cancel, and treat this integration as if it does not exist.
